Gambian FM assures continuous cooperation with China
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad Mamadou Tangara assured on Tuesday the continuous cooperation between his government and China as the Asian's nation embassy in Banjul held a reception celebrating the 71st founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
He said that the Gambian government would always support the promotion of multilateralism, win-win cooperation, the Belt and Road Initiative and the development framework defined by the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
"Likewise, we will also continue to stand firm with the people of China, in respect to the One-China principle," Tangara said during a virtual address to the reception.
"As we continue on the path towards our National Development Plan objectives, we trust in your cooperation at all times," the Gambian minister said, adding that "together we are stronger, and together we can make the world a better place."
The Gambia and China resumed bilateral relations in 2016. Since then, The Gambia and China have launched several development projects to assist the tiny West African nation.
