AI brings more opportunities to Xi'an

Leading academicians, research experts and business representatives in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) from home and abroad gathered in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, at the 2020 Belt and Road Artificial Intelligence Summit Forum held in the city on Oct 30.

They discussed such topics such as frontiers and challenges for AI development, the exploration and practice of an AI + education model, as well as the integrated development of the AI industry and education in the context of globalization.

The forum was hosted by the management committee of the Xixian New Area and Xidian University and organized by the management committee of Jinghe New City and Shaanxi Guobo Zhengtong Information Technology Co.

The Innovation Alliance of Artificial Intelligence in the Belt and Road Region was established and unveiled at the forum.

Meanwhile, a signing ceremony took place for a key project in Shaanxi province on Sept 29. The ceremony paved the way for the Belt and Road international AI innovation development base project to settle in Jinghe New City, with an investment of 2 billion yuan ($299.07 million).

It will accelerate the introduction there of talents in the field of AI, as well as achievements in invention patents and technology transformation. It is expected to achieve an annual output value of 4 billion yuan, becoming another highly influential facility in a node city of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Moving forwards, Jinghe New City will further promote the deep integration of high-end technologies such as AI, 5G and big data with the real economy.

It will help with their industrial transformation and upgrading, to build itself into an influential innovation and entrepreneurship highland and a strategic emerging industries highland.
