Chinese port city sees cross-border e-commerce orders soar during shopping festival

The northern Chinese port city of Tianjin saw its cross-border e-commerce orders surge during the Singles' Day shopping promotions.

Over 2.8 million import orders were declared in the city from Nov. 1 to 11, up 16.3 percent year on year, according to the municipal commission of commerce.

The total sales value of the goods hit 550 million yuan (about 83 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 11.1 percent over the same period last year.

Cosmetics, food, personal care products and baby products were among the most popular items. The products were mainly from Japan, the United States and the Republic of Korea.

From January to October, Tianjin saw more than 22.8 million declared import orders, up 7.72 percent year on year. The total sales value of the goods was 3.72 billion yuan, up 5.81 percent.
