Chinese medical aid team sets out for Uganda
A Chinese medical aid team set off on Wednesday from Kunming, the capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
It is the 21st Chinese medical aid team to Uganda and was assigned by the Yunnan provincial health commission. It consists of seven doctors from various specialist departments, as well as a translator and a chef.
The team will provide medical services for residents and train medical personnel in designated local hospitals in Uganda. They will also assist with the country's battle against COVID-19.
"We will serve the local people with dedication and love, and convey the friendship of Chinese people to the African people through our work there," said team-leader Xie Dazhi.
Since 1983, China has dispatched 21 medical aid teams to Uganda to support its medical and healthcare services.
