The fifth Silk Road International Exposition and the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China will be held on May 11-15 in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.

In recent years, benefitting from it being the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and its role as an important player in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Shaanxi has continued to boost the influence and attractiveness of the Silk Road International Exposition.

The event has become an important platform to promote the construction of the Belt and Road, as well as the development of the western region, and for the joint development of the eastern, central and western regions.

Covering a total exhibition area of 72,000 square meters, seven exhibition halls will be set up at Xi'an International Convention & Exhibition Center. The display areas will comprise an international hall, Chinese hall, Shaanxi hall, smart manufacturing hall, green industry hall, cultural industry hall and rural revitalization hall.

The event is expected to showcase the overall images, resource advantages, characteristic industries and key projects of the countries and regions involved in the BRI, as well as those of the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, and the cities and districts in Shaanxi.

This year, the Slovak Republic will be the guest of honor and Sichuan and Hebei provinces will be the guest provinces.

A series of important forums and meetings will also be held during event, including the Silk Road Economic Belt International Cooperation Forum, the Yellow River Basin Ecological Protection and High-quality Development Forum, as well as the 2021 Silk Road E-commerce Cooperation (Xi'an) Roundtable.
