Members of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (APEC) should make joint efforts to advance inclusive growth in the Asia Pacific region, China's Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said Friday.

APEC must continue to advocate multilateralism, accelerate regional economic integration, maintain open market, and advance the digital economy, so as to boost inclusive growth in a better way, Wang said while addressing an APEC seminar in Tianjin.

Noting that the region has made remarkable progress on inclusive and sustainable growth over the past three decades, Wang said that the pandemic has brought challenges, and he called for joint efforts to address them.

Specifically, APEC should explore new rules for advancing inclusive growth in the region and the world, while strengthening the coordination of trade and investment policy among its members, Wang said.

He also emphasized the role of the digital economy in driving inclusive growth and called for efforts to bridge the digital divide of the developing economies.

China will work together with other APEC members to push for open, inclusive and innovative growth, he said.
