China Xinjiang's Alataw Pass inaugurates local cross-border e-commerce freight train to Europe

Alataw Pass, a major rail port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sunday launched a new local cross-border e-commerce train service to Europe.

The maiden cargo train departed on Sunday from Alataw Pass for European countries, such as Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, with 49 containers loaded with garments, daily necessities and other commodities, with a total worth of 2.92 million U.S. dollars.

The port has seen expedited growth of parcels since it kicked off cross-border e-commerce business in January 2020, delivering made-in-China products to overseas online shoppers via the China-Europe freight trains.

As of May 15, the Alataw Pass has exported more than 17.48 million cross-border e-commerce parcels worth over 36.44 billion yuan (about 5.66 million U.S. dollars).
