China's battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL, 300750.SZ) announced Thursday that it will deepen partnership with German commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck AG (Daimler Truck) by supplying lithium-ion battery packs for Daimler Truck's Mercedes-Benze eActros LongHaul electric truck scheduled for series production in 2024, reported Shanghai Securities News Friday.

The supply will last beyond 2030.

The battery packs to be supplied will feature ultra-long cycle life and fast-charging ability to satisfy the unique demand of long-haul electric trucks.

Both companies will also jointly design and develop next-generation battery cells and packs by focusing on high modularity and scalability, in a bid to flexibly support different application scenarios and future electric truck models.

The two sides have already signed a global supply agreement in 2019 on lithium-ion battery cells and modules for Daimler Truck's electric series trucks including Mercedes-Benz eActros, Freightliner eCascadia and Freightliner eM2.
