China's textile & garment exports show positive trends from January to April
From January to April of 2021, China's cumulative export value of textiles and garment industry stood at 88.371 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 32.65 percent, statistics from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) showed.
Specifically, export value of textiles was 43.956 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 17.81 percent, and the cumulative export value of garment reached 44.42 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 51.54 percent.
During the first quarter, China's domestic sales have achieved high recovery growth, and online consumption continues to rise. Due to the return of orders, textile and garment exports even exceeded the level of the same period in 2019.
In terms of trade destination, EU remains China's main export market for textile and garment industry. With the gradual recovery of market demand in EU, China's textile and garment exports to EU will keep the growing trend.
According to data from GACC, in the first quarter of 2021, 11 categories of China's textile raw materials and textile products export to the EU hit 93.45 trillion U.S. dollars, a significant year-on-year increase of 43.23 percent.
However, affected by COVID-19 rebound in EU, many EU countries have tightened prevention and control measures. The textile and garment consumption and demand in EU may drop. Textile and garment export companies may still face risks such as cancellation of orders in the EU market, extension of the billing period, hindered logistics, and even buyer bankruptcy.
