China's Xiaomi launches 5G smartphone in Kenya

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi on Friday launched the Redmi Note 10 5G smartphone device in the Kenyan market.

According to Ramadhan Hassan, marketing manager of Xiaomi Kenya, the device will be among the affordable 5G smartphones in the country and will be available at retail cost of 18, 499 shillings (about 172 U.S. dollars)

"The Redmi Note will be able to utilize 5G technology once telecom operators roll out the service," Hassan said during a virtual launch.

The Chinese firm also launched the Redmi Note 10S phone.
