E.China's Anhui sees first China-Europe freight train specially for tea exports

A China-Europe fright train specially for tea exports has recently departed from a railway station in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, according to the local Hefei newspaper on Tuesday. 

The train, loaded with more than 800 tonnes of Chinese green tea worth over 1.18 million U.S. dollars, is expected to arrive in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, in mid-September. The whole journey is about 5,590 kilometers. 

The Chinese green tea is mainly produced in Huangshan City where the Huangshan Mountain, a UNESCO world heritage site is located. 

It is reported that Huangshan City is a key tea-producing area in China. Its tea output accounts for one third of the province's total and the tea export volume accounts for 14 percent of the country. 

Under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the launch of the China-Europe freight train service will help promote economic and trade exchanges between the city and others in Asia and Europe, said the report.
