The ceremony unveiling the fourth Chinese Design Award was held in Hangzhou, capital city of China's Zhejiang Province on Wednesday.
Young talents from Chinese mainland and Taiwan Province took the occasion as an opportunity to promote cross-strait academic exchanges and innovative interaction.
It is noted that the award has three categories of sports innovation, intelligent products and integration of culture and tourism, with an attempt to propel young talents sharing views on designing and intellectual property as well as select young talents with innovative mindset and outstanding design ability.
The competition received more than 12,000 entries, with Taiwan competition area receiving 1,339 pieces, increasing by 28 percent compared with the last competition. After more than two months of selection, a total of 24 excellent works stood out, among which "emergency inflatable stretcher" and "PET bottle recycling running clothes" won the gold medal of concept group and product group respectively.
This year's competition has witnessed many entries with innovative ideas inspired by the traditional Chinese culture and heritage, indicating that people from Chinese mainland and Taiwan Province carry forward the Chinese civilization based on common cultural origin, said Lu Xiaobo, dean of Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University.
