BEIJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- The world-class new energy vehicle (NEV) experience center project has recently started construction in Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan province, focusing on boosting the NEV development in the province, reported Hainan Daily recently.

Covering a planned total area of about 1657 mu, the project involves a planned total investment of about 4.026 billion yuan, covering NEV supporting facilities such as automobile supporting facility functional areas, technology research and development centers, and data platforms.

The project also plans to construct sub-projects, including an automobile theme cultural exhibition hall, racing academy, and automobile theme park, to further improve the construction of the NEV industry innovation ecological park in Hainan.

It is noted that the project will also join hands with public service platforms, including the Hainan Island Round-the-Island Tourist Road, to build a convenient service function that integrates car culture, car life, characteristic tourism, and innovative travel.

According to the person in charge of the project, Hainan Province will seize the development opportunities of new energy vehicles and intelligent networked vehicles and strive to achieve the project's first phase operation in 2023.
