Senior Chinese official to attend Malaysian railway ceremony

Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong will attend a ceremony for the East Coast Rail Line project in Malaysia from Tuesday to Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said.

The 600-km railway will be jointly constructed by China and Malaysia, connecting the densely populated area around the capital of Kuala Lumpur and the less developed region along the east coast of the Malaysian peninsula.

The planned construction will run from 2017 through 2024.
