In 2021, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, advanced the construction of infrastructure at ports and comprehensive bonded zones and improved facilitation.

As of December 2021, the cargo and mail throughput of the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport was 395,600 metric tons, ranking ninth in the country.

Throughout the year, the China-Europe Chang'an freight train made a total of 3,841 trips, carrying a total of 2.87 million tons of goods internationally.

In addition, the total value of imports and exports of the five comprehensive bonded zones in the zone reached 323.28 billion yuan ($51.1 billion), a year-on-year increase of 39.74 percent and accounting for 73.47 percent of the city's total imports and exports.

The city completed a series of major projects, including the renovation of designated supervision sites for vehicle imports at railway ports and the construction of an international express mail supervision center at airports, significantly enhancing cargo storage, distribution and customs clearance.

The implementation of rapid railway customs clearance has shortened the time the China-Europe Chang'an freight train must stay at the port by 6-12 hours.
