Serbia looks to expand infrastructure cooperation with China

Chinese enterprises have made remarkable achievements, and the two countries' good political relations will ensure more cooperation projects are successfully launched, said the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić during an inspection of the construction project of a 17.6-kilometer section of E763 high-speed road in Serbia on Aug 21.

China Communications Construction Company is undertaking the project. Aleksandar Vučić said once the high-speed road is finished, the adjacent area will become industrial park zones attractive to foreign investors. He welcomes enterprises and investors from China to start their businesses in the area thereafter.

Aleksandar Vučić said Serbia will strengthen its cooperation with China despite some external forces' attempts to sabotage the bilateral friendship. But our friendship is like iron and steel and will not collapse, he stated.

Li Manchang, China's ambassador to Serbia, said the two countries' trade and economic ties, as well as their friendship is making steady progress. The Chinese enterprises are obliged to abide by the Serbian laws and the contracts signed, and are ensuring the high quality and progress of the project.

The construction of the high-speed road started in March, and set to be completed in three years according to the plan. The contract valueis US$233 million and will connect Serbia with ports in the Republic of Montenegro.
