Denza, a joint venture between China's BYD and Germany's Daimler, launched its first MPV on Tuesday. The D9 is available in both plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions. The plug-in hybrid offers a range of up to 1,040 kilometers, while the pure electric offers the biggest mileage of 620 km on one charge.

The MPV has eight variants, with seven of them priced from 329,800 yuan ($48,044) to 459,800 yuan. A limited premium version is priced at 660,000 yuan. The model measures 5,250 millimeters in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,920 mm in height, with its wheelbase reaching 3,110 mm.

Denza said the model is designed for both business and family users, with such features as an onboard high-resolution projector and a customized air bed.

In the cabin, there is a 15.6-inch center console display, powered by Denza's Link system. The model has Level 2 driving-assist functions. The electric version, built based on BYD's e3.0 platform, has two chargers. When both are used, it allows the car to extend its mileage by 230 km in just 15 minutes.

Denza started presales of the model in May and has since received more than 30,000 orders.
