The United Nations has recently released the global solicitation for SDG Good Practices. CPFL Energia S.A., a listed flagship power company in Brazil with 83.71 percent of shares held by State Grid Corporation of China, was included.

The selection was organized and implemented by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. In early 2021, outstanding cases were solicited from all over the world.

Since State Grid Corporation of China became a shareholder of CPFL in 2017, it has comprehensively promoted the enterprise's transformation. While helping the company achieve a substantial increase in operating benefits, it has also attached great importance to its sustainable development, formulating and implementing sustainable development plans according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with remarkable results made in many aspects. In 2019, with the vigorous support of the governments of Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, CPFL launched the "CPFL in Hospitals" project, making full use of the electricity bill and energy saving fund to invest 150 million Brazilian reais from 2019 to 2021 in energy saving renovations for about 300 public hospitals, and thus benefiting 1.5 million patients and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 5,000 tonnes per year. Also, the infrastructure conditions of local public hospitals have been effectively improved thanks to the policies of electricity fee compensation and tax reduction and exemption. Since 2020, in the face of the severe situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, CPFL has focused on epidemic prevention and control and production, and actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibilities. As of June 2021, CPFL has installed 8.27 MW of solar photovoltaic equipment in 120 public hospitals and about 74,800 LED lights, making positive contributions to Brazil's green, low-carbon and sustainable development. Furthermore, the project has significantly improved the reliability of power supply for public hospitals on the front line of the fight against the pandemic, and greatly reduced the hospitals' operating costs, fully reflecting CPFL's sense of responsibility and corporate accountability.
