In recent years, Chinese centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOEs)"going global" have promoted extensive consultation and joint contribution to deliver shared benefits, stood committed to overseas markets, and focused on integrated development and mutual benefits with all parties in the host countries, which have won wide praises from all sectors of local community.

In the face of the COVID-19 outbreak this year, many Chinese central SOEs have risen to the challenge and taken multiple measures to coordinate epidemic prevention and control and resume work and production, resulting in the smooth implementation of overseas projects. They have won a lot of praises for their actions and achievements.

Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway

On December 15, No. 1 Tunnel, the important control work of Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, was successfully holed through, marking a significant progress and realization of an important sub-goal in the construction of the railway. As the first Chinese high-speed rail project going global in an all-round way, the project was built with Chinese technology, standards and equipment, and Chinese construction enterprises were fully involved in the planning, construction, operation and management abroad.

Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is a pioneering cooperative project between China and Indonesia. The completion of No. 1 Tunnel is a milestone and a proud achievement. The Indonesian government hopes that the railway will become a modern public infrastructure project that will bring positive influence to the economy and well-being of the Indonesian society in a sustainable way. We expect the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway would be completed as scheduled and become the pride of Indonesia.

Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway

As the first transnational electrified railway in Africa, Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway that connects Ethiopia and Djibouti was jointly built and operated by China Railway No.2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. Despite the difficulties brought by the epidemic, the railway has realized an increase in the traffic volume for the first half of this year, with operating revenue increasing by 51 percent year on year.

During the fight against the epidemic, Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway has played a notable role as a "transportation lifeline", providing strong logistical support for the country's economic activities and the normal operation of the emergency response system. Many industrial parks have also been built along the railway, creating many job opportunities, significantly improving the living standards of local people and constructing a "vibrant economic belt".

Alima General Hospital of Trinidad and Tobago

The project was designed and built by the Caribbean branch of China Railway Construction Corporation. In response to COVID-19, the epidemic prevention area was urgently transformed to improve the diagnosis and treatment capacity of the hospital.

Chinese enterprises built this hospital when Trinidad and Tobago was in need. They were far away from their home and working hard with us. The people of Trinidad and Tobago will enjoy high-quality medical services here.
