China's leading electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD (002594.SZ) on March 29 announced to launch three EV models in Spain, as part of the efforts to further make its passenger cars go global.

The three models are Han flagship sedan, Tang sport utility vehicle (SUV) and Atto 3 SUV.

The EV maker also announced the opening of two pioneering stores in Barcelona and Madrid last week for local consumers to try BYD new energy passenger vehicles.

BYD began its pure electric bus business in Spain in 2016. So far, its footprint has spread to major Spanish cities such as Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

The company said it has forged partnership with three leading Spanish auto distribution groups, namely Astara, Quadis, and Caetano Retail Spain, to jointly provide consumers with localized services and premium product experience.
