Sales of Chinese cars in Israel spike in Jan.-May

JERUSALEM, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese cars, both gasoline-powered and electric models, have presented impressive sales figures in Israel since the beginning of 2023, according to data issued by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association on Friday.

China's leading electric carmaker BYD ranked Israel's top-selling electric cars brand in the period by selling 8,497 electric cars, mainly the subcompact crossover SUV Atto 3.

China's automaker Geely Auto Group, which sold 4,091 compact crossover Geometry C cars in January-May, ranked the second place among all electric car brands.

Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Corporation, which entered the Israeli market in late 2022, quickly became the sixth best-selling brand in Israel and the fourth in the sales of full gasoline-powered cars in the first five months of 2023.

Chery, which offers in Israel the crossover models Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo 8 Pro, and FX, also known as the Omada 5, already sold a total of 7,165 cars in Israel in 2023.
