Important Notes about Travel to Pingtan Island
I. Typhoons (Keep your eyes on the skies!)
1. On the eve of a typhoon, be careful when walking into the water, as ocean currents can be more vicious.
2. When a typhoon hits land, pay close attention to media and scenic spot-issued safety warnings, and take staff advice concerning evacuation.
II. Astronomical tide (Keep at bay; don’t play!)
Astronomical tides are mainly concentrated on the first or fifteenth day of the seventh, eighth, and ninth months of the Chinese lunar calendar. In the event of such a tide, watch the water from a safe area. DO NOT go swimming on your own.
III. Swimming (Be wise with tides!)
Flood tide: In case of a rising tide, no stopovers on reefs or lonely islands are permitted to avoid being flooded out with the seawater.
Ebb tide: In the face of a falling tide, keep away from the coastline or safe areas to avoid exhaustion when swimming back.
