On the noon of June 12th, five Taiwan compatriots received the “Elderly Preferential Treatment Certificate of Fujian Province” from the government officials in a certain seafood restaurant in Pingtan. These five elderly certificates are the first to be obtained from mainland China through the Taiwan-Mainland Exchange Public Information Service Platform (hereinafter referred to as "Taiwan-Mainland Exchange App").

After obtaining the elderly certificates, these 5 Taiwan compatriots will enjoy the benefits of the elderly card in the mainland. With their elderly certificate, they have free access to public parks, tourist attractions, scenic spots, museums, art galleries, science and technology museums, former residence of celebrities and public libraries, they also have the priority of visiting a doctor, taking medicines and paying fees in the hospitals with an exemption from ordinary registration fee.

It is reported that applying for elderly certificate through “Taiwan-Mainland Exchange App” is a case of collaboration concept of “platform energizing, data opening” of the District Smart Island Investment Development co., Ltd., with the authorization and under the support of District Administrative Examination and Approval Bureau, District Smart Service Management Center and District Elderly Affairs Office. Based on the established Pingtan grid platform, a one-stop certificates issuing service for Taiwan compatriots is realized.

Taiwan compatriots only need to propose an application and submit relevant materials through "Taiwan-Mainland Exchange App". When the process of examination and approval and certificate making are completed, Taiwan compatriots in Pingtan will enjoy the home delivery service, while those who are not in Pingtan will be able to receive the mainland elderly certificates by mail.

It is understood that only Pingtan has set a precedent in applying for mainland elderly certificates through App online. In addition, Pingtan has expanded its policy to allow Taiwan compatriots above 65 years old (65 years old included) to apply for mainland elderly certificates.
