Liaoning embraces B&R construction
Liaoning Province in northeast China has actively participated in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, expanding overseas investment with a strong momentum in growing exports, Xinhua reports.
So far, big breakthroughs have been made in three key transportation channels starting from the province, said He Rui, vice director of Liaoning Provincial Development and Reform Commission in a press conference on Feb. 10.
The "Liaoning-Manzhouli-Europe" freight train line, which connects the cities of Dalian, Yingkou, Shenyang and Panjin in Liaoning with Europe via Manzhouli in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, started spot to spot transportation with Moscow, Warsaw, Minsk, Kaluga and Novosibirsk.
The "Liaoning-Mongolia-Europe" freight train line will connect Jinzhou Port, Panjin Port in Liaoning, Zhuengadabuqi Port, and Choibalsan in Mongolia upon completion. Railway lines within China have been completed.
M.V. Yong Sheng of China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company (COSCO) has made its maiden voyage from Dalian Port in Liaoning to the Port of Rotterdam. The route is part of a marine channel connecting Dalian Port, Bering Strait, the Arctic Ocean and Europe.
According to Wang Guangli, deputy director of the Commerce Department of Liaoning Province, Liaoning invested in 54 projects in countries along the Belt and Road routes in 2016, with a total investment amount of around US$1.38 billion.
