The Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park had attracted projects with a total investment of more than 20 billion yuan by the end of 2016.

The Kuantan Industrial Park, located in Kuantan, capital city of Pahang State in Malaysia, is a special economic zone in the East Coast Economic Region.

The industrial park, jointly constructed by Chinese and Malaysian governments, was opened in 2013. It has a total planning area of 12 square kilometers.

Construction on the external infrastructure of the 6-square-kilometer first phase, with an investment of around 2.4 billion yuan from the Malaysian government, has been completed. The preparation work for internal projects of the first phase is expected to be completed within 2017 and the infrastructure construction of the second phase would be launched within the year.

The industrial park has attracted a number of quality projects to settle down there.

A steel plant with an annual capacity of 3.5 million tons, the first project to the industrial park, has seen construction of its blast furnace launched. It is expected to kick off production at the end of 2017.

A number of enterprises such as Guangxi Zhongli Ceramics have signed agreements to open their presence in the industrial park and are carrying out preparations for settling down there.
