May 19, 2014--The logistics terminal jointly built by China and Kazakhstan went into operation in the port of Lianyungang in east China. It was the first tangible platform under the framework of the Silk Road Economic Belt.

December 2013--President Xi Jinping called for strengthening infrastructure connectivity in the process of implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and building a community of common interests at the annual Central Economic Work Conference.
