At the regular press conference of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC on June 26, a reporter asked such a question that Fujian Province is working to build Pingtan into a pilot zone for Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese companies to settle in the First Homeland, and the spokesperson provided an introduction to the situation.

According to An Fengshan, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC, Fujian Province and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone has taken active measures in recent years to cooperate with Taiwan as first movers by continuously optimizing the business and living environment. The fast Ro-Ro passenger and cargo shipping routes from Pingtan to Taichung and Taipei have played an active role in the exchanges between Fujian and Taiwan and the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. With the continuously improved trade facilitation in Pingtan, the threshold and cost of Taiwan-funded enterprises entering the mainland market have continued to decrease, along with an increasing number of opportunities for development, attracting many Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan's young people to come to Pingtan for living, entrepreneurship and employment.

An Fengshan pointed out that on June 16, the Administration Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone of Fujian Province issued the Implementation Opinions on Exploring the New Road for Cross-Strait Integration and Development, which proposes “36 measures” for the construction of the pilot zone for Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese companies to settle in the First Homeland. Relevant measures include the promotion of unimpeded economic and trade cooperation, the advancing of infrastructure connectivity, the acceleration of energy resources intercommunication, and the deepening of industry standards, as well as the full implementation of equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese enterprises, the promotion of equalization of public services for Taiwan compatriots, the strengthening of cross-strait grassroots governance exchanges and cooperation, and the expansion of cross-strait people-to-people exchange, which will provide more convenience and create better conditions for Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese enterprises to achieve greater and better development in Pingtan.
