Pingtan to be included in the one-hour “life circle” of Fuzhou with the completion of Chang-Ping Express Way Tunnel

Pile foundations of the Songxia sea-crossing grand bridge of the Chang-Ping Expressway are about to be completed.

On the 5th, the reporter visited Chang-Ping Expressway and learned that the entire Chang-Ping Expressway Tunnel had been completed, the pile foundations of the Songxia sea-crossing grand bridge leading to Pingtan was about to be completed, the main project of the Songxia toll station and the Jiangtian toll station has also been capped, and interior decoration and mechanical and electrical installation will start soon. Projects construction of the second island entry passage to Pingtan has been in full swing, and the Fu-Ping one-hour “life circle” is in sight.

On the morning of 5th, on-site observation meeting for standardization of building and construction of Fuzhou Expressway Construction Command was held at Chang-Ping Expressway Songxia Interchange. Reporters at the scene learned that toll stations and management rooms of the Songxia and Jiangtian interchanges have been capped and entered into the interior decoration phase, about 35% of the road surface project has also been completed.

On the 5th, a pile foundation of Pier 24 has been completed. Xiong Ziduo, the project leader, was checking the construction situation in the hot sun to prepare for the concrete pouring in the afternoon. According to Xiong Ziduo, "Songxia Bridge is 1.4 kilometers long in total, with 180 piles to be built and the longest pile foundation to reach 70 meters. So far, 175 have been completed, only five left to be done, and it is expected to be completed in two months."

Songxia sea-crossing grand bridge has created a number of first. The span of the two moving die frames used to cast upper box girder is 58 meters, which is the largest span of the same type of high speed die frame in China. A stable construction platform has been built on the pier body by using the advanced internal sliding technology in China, which is the first time in Fuzhou.

"I have participated in building three bridges since I began my building career, and this bridge is the most difficult one." Xiong Ziduo said, the Pingtan Strait is one of the three major strong-wind regions in the world. The average number of gale days above scale 6 per year exceeds 300 days. Sometimes the waves can splash more than 30 meters high, which is terrifying, and since the effective construction time is very limited, the construction team has to fight every minute.

Chang-Ping expressway is about 21.8 km long in total and is a two-way 6-lane expressway with speed of 100 km per hour. According to the proprietary office, the first phase of the Chang-Ping expressway (Qiantang Interchange-Songxia Interchange) will be opened to traffic in the first half of 2019, and the second phase of the project (Rongling Bridge to Songxia Grand Bridge) is expected to be opened to traffic in the second half of 2019, synchronous with the Fu-Ping High Speed Railway .

Chang-Ping expressway is part of Jing-Tai expressway, and also the planned second entry passage to Pingtan. It will take about an hour to enter the island through the southeast section of the round-city expressway, Chang-Ping expressway and Pingtan Road-cum-Rail Bridge, saving half an hour.

So far, the second island entry passage to Pingtan has been progressed smoothly, the Changmen Grand Bridge and the No.2 Bridge of Langqi Grand Bridge in the southeast section of the round-city expressway have been closed, and the control engineering has almost completed; main towers of Pingtan Road-cum-Rail Bridge have been capped. The passage will bring Pingtan into the one-hour life circle of Fuzhou, and strengthen the links between Pingtan comprehensive experimental area and Binhai new city.
