Belarus-China Friendship Center opens in Minsk region

The Belarus-China Friendship Center has opened in the Minsk region, the Chief Education Department of the regional executive committee said Wednesday night in a press release.

According to the committee, the center based in Minsk has Chinese literature on history, culture, art and economics. Visitors can also get acquainted with reference publications, guidebooks and maps in Chinese. Teachers of the Chinese language will be organized at the center as well.

The center aims to expand interregional cooperation between the Minsk region and Chinese provinces in education and culture, as well as to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Belarus and China, the committee said.

In the press release, the committee called the center another step in the development of Belarus-China cooperation in education.

More than 1,300 students now study Chinese at 21 institutions in the Minsk region, according to data provided by the Chief Education Department of the Minsk region.
