Israeli imports from China up 6.7 pct in Jan.-Aug.

Israeli imports from China rose by 6.7 percent in the first eight months of 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the state's Central Bureau of Statistics said in a report on Tuesday.

From January to August this year, Israeli imports from China totaled 6.33 billion U.S. dollars, higher than 5.93 billion dollars in the same period in 2019.

The report also said that Israeli monthly imports from China rose by 20.6 percent, from 753 million dollars in August 2019 to 908 million dollars in August this year.

Meanwhile, Israeli exports to China decreased by 26.2 percent year on year during the first eight months of 2020 to 3.54 billion dollars from 4.8 billion dollars a year ago.

Also, a year-on-year decline of about 20.5 percent was recorded in August, with Israeli exports to China totaling about 441 million dollars.

The report said that Israel's total exports in January-August stood at 32 billion dollars, down by 20 percent year on year, while its total imports hit 45 billion dollars, down by 13.3 percent.
