The 2020 China Canada Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cooperation Forum (CCIECF) kicked off in Beijing on Oct 20.

As an important part of the 2020 China Overseas Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week, CCIECF aims to build a bridge for China-Canada exchanges and cooperation between governments, embassies, enterprises and investment institutions, pragmatically promote cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurial cultural exchanges, and push forward the implementation of projects.

Canada's Ambassador to China Dominic Barton said that Canada has a developed economy, high-quality universities and top research institutions, and China has a huge market and fast-developing technology. The two parties can complement each other's advantages in the cooperation of technological innovation, he said, and find the point of best fit. More unicorn companies are to be expected.

The forum included a signing ceremony between some Hicool award-winning projects and Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park, a seminar on Sino-Canadian science and technology innovation exchange, and an experience sharing session by some Canada startups.

Local offices and representatives of startups, businesses and investment agencies from China and Canada also attended the forum.
