China-Mongolia border port serves over 6,000 China-Europe freight train trips since 2014

The number of China-Europe freight train trips via Erenhot, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has exceeded 6,000 as of January 27, 2021 since its initiation in 2014, local railway authorities said on Thursday.

A total of 6,001 train trips passed through the port, among which inbound trips stood at 3,015, while 2,986 outbound trips were recorded, according to the China Railway Hohhot Group.

Erenhot Port initiated the China-Europe cargo rail transport service in May 2014 and has since been handling rising numbers of cargo train trips, said Yun Zhijun, who works at the Erenhot station.

Erenhot Port, an important channel for international cargo in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has 43 China-Europe freight train routes passing through it.

Outbound trains from Erenhot can reach countries including Russia, Belarus, Poland and Germany. The imported and exported goods carried by freight trains through Erenhot include timber, auto parts, textile products and more.
