Zambian traders have commended their Chinese counterparts for conducting business online to sustain trade during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kitwe Business Association representative Naomi Kabaghe said the business community was still ordering goods from China despite the COVID-19.

"For us to sustain our trade we have been making orders online for our goods from China, failure to which our businesses will come to a halt, which will result in loss of jobs," she said.

Kabaghe said China's online trading has been in existence for some time and that it has been effective for Zambian traders especially this time of COVID-19.

She said the Chinese local firms were now coming up with warehousing facilities in Zambia for the delivery of goods to buyers of Chinese products in Zambia.

And Mukumbi Kafuta, president of Northwestern Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said online trading is sustaining trade between Zambians and Chinese.

"For the wheels of the economy to continue running there is need to sustain the country's economy through various economic activities which include the participation of the local business community," he said, adding that with improved technology, Zambians will benefit from China in various ways to progress in their business activities.
