Zhengzhou-bound China-Europe freight train makes 5,000 trips

China-Europe freight trains departing from or arriving at Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, have made a total of 5,000 trips so far since the launch of the service, according to Henan Daily on Thursday.

On the afternoon of October 6, a China-Europe freight train loaded with 50-cart container cargo departed from a station in Zhengzhou, heading for Hamburg, Germany.

It is the 1,114th trip made by such trains this year, and also the 5,000th trip since the launch of the service eight years ago, said Guo Xinnian, deputy general manager of Zhengzhou International Hub Development and Construction Co., Ltd., the main operator of the train service.

It is reported that up to now, the China-Europe freight trains (Zhengzhou) have made a total of 5,000 trips, and transported the goods worth about 20.589 billion U.S. dollars and weighing about 2.85 million tonnes.

So far, the China-Europe freight trains traveling along 73 routes have reached more than 170 cities in 23 European countries. The train services also provided transport support for the economic and social development in countries and regions along the Belt and Road (B&R).
