The Olympic Flame for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics was ignited on Monday at a ceremony in Olympia in western Greece, the birthplace of the Games.

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said that "Beijing will write history as the first ever city to organize both editions of the Olympic Games, summer and winter."

"Looking forward to seeing you soon in Beijing," said Bach.
