In Chinese President Xi Jinping's written interview with Russian media ahead of his departure for the July 3-4 state visit to Russia, Xi said that the two sides may make joint efforts to develop and utilize maritime passageways, particularly the Northern Sea Route, realize a "Silk Road on ice".
