GLOBALink | BMW's new paint shop in NE China completes one-month test run
SHENYANG, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- German auto giant BMW's largest paint shop in the world has completed a one-month test operation in Shenyang, China.
Shenyang is home to one of BMW's largest production bases and a massive research and development center of the carmaker.
With a building area of nearly 110,000 square meters and a building height of nearly 24 meters, the shop is also the highest and only multi-layer paint shop of BMW in the world.
The paint shop is owned by BMW Brilliance Automobile, a joint venture between BMW and Chinese car maker Huachen Auto Group.
It was constructed by the Northeast branch of China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corp.
BMW, which has a presence in Shenyang for more than 18 years, has achieved fruitful results with its localization strategy.
Its China joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive has been the city's largest taxpayer for years.
