Two freight trains left Shenzhen and Guangzhou in south China's Guangdong Province respectively for Lao capital Vientiane on Friday.

They were the first China-Laos freight trains launched in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in south China.

Carrying 107 containers, the trains will travel on the newly opened China-Laos Railway.

With a length of 1,035 km, the China-Laos Railway connects Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan Province with Vientiane.

The railway was put into service on Friday.
