SAIC Hongyan contributes to building green B&R with popular new energy vehicles

SAIC Hongyan Automotive Co., Ltd., a Chinese heavy-duty truck producer, is contributing to building the green Belt and Road by exporting eco-friendly new energy vehicles (NEVs) to more and more markets of related countries and regions.
In July 2021, the company delivered 500 Hongyan Genlyon C6 LNG tractors equipped with SAIC Power E series natural gas engines to its Russian client, which boasted huge demand for use of LNG and spoke highly of the LNG tractors.
In Russia, development of NEVs is pressed ahead with to boost carbon emission reduction. SAIC Hongyan's new energy trucks thus turned out as one of the more economic, efficient and energy saving solutions for mainline haulage in the country.
To better satisfy needs of the customer from a market traditionally dominated by European and American truck brands, SAIC Hongyan's LNG tractors were developed to optimize its user experience. "The Russian customer praised our sound product quality, attentive after-sale services and timely parts supply and they are in particular pleased with our innovatively upgraded and customized products," said Xiong Zhu, director of international business department with SAIC Hongyan.
With the help of Russian distributors, the company has stricken a strategic partnership with the Russian client and planned to roll out more localized LNG vehicles, electric vehicles and hydrogen-powered vehicles and establish a NEV research institute and a modern assembly plant to foster application of NEVs.
Elsewhere, heavy-duty vehicles of varied types of SAIC Hongyan are exported to and used in transport in Congo, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam and many other countries.
Currently, SAIC Hongyan has kicked off application of related certification with the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) for its NEVs to pave way for their entering the markets of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and South America.
In 2021, the company's first batch of pure electric heavy-duty trucks arrived in South America, marking it the first Chinese truck manufacturer that exported pure electric heavy-duty vehicles abroad.
As Xiong introduced, SAIC Hongyan saw its exports rise 79 percent year on year and its share in certain individual markets exceed five percent in 2021 thanks to recovery of related industries at home and abroad and its adherence to a sustainable development path.
Since 2015, the Chinese truck producer has been pouring efforts into development and application of electric drive, electronic control and battery systems when strengthening the fundamental in traditional vehicle market and crafted its hydrogen-powered and pure electric heavy-duty vehicles system.
Under the product system, tractors, tip trucks, cargo trucks and special trucks are all contained and these new energy trucks can gratify transport demand in multiple fields such as highway logistics and engineering construction and for multiple purposes.
In October 2021, the world's first 10,000 units of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck industrial application base invested by SAIC Hongyan and Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. was inaugurated in Ordos city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in north China.
Lou Jianping, general manager with SAIC Hongyan said that new energy represented opportunities for auto industry and SAIC Hongyan, as a vital part of SAIC Group's commercial vehicle business, will thoroughly exploit the integrated advantages of the upstream and downstream industrial chain to renew the "Hongyan speed" of development.
By exploring development of more clean energy heavy-duty trucks, the homegrown Chinese heavy-duty truck producer is practicing the concept of protecting the blue sky and living harmoniously with the nature to make contributions to green development.
