DHAKA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Bangladesh Olympic Association Thursday wished the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics complete success.

In an interview with Xinhua, Bangladesh Olympic Association vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed commended China's efforts in hosting the world's biggest sporting extravaganza in a "green and clean" manner despite the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"On behalf of myself and the Bangladesh Olympic Association, I would like to extend our best wishes to China and all the participating contingents for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

The veteran sports organizer of the country said the Olympic flame lit in Beijing will be "a symbol of the sports spirit" in building a peaceful and prosperous world.

Ahmed also expressed his hope that all athletes and organizers will be able to participate in a safe manner.

"I'm sure the Olympics will bring nations together and lead a greater understanding in international arena."

He said the Beijing Winter Olympics would pave the way to promote further friendship and brotherhood as well.

Meanwhile, he noted that China, as a leading Olympic nation, can help Bangladesh improve their capacity in different disciplines.

Beijing Winter Olympics will be held between February 4 and 20, followed by the Winter Paralympics from March 4 to 13.
