Cainiao Network (Cainiao), the logistics arm of China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, recently announced that it had launched a weekly cargo charter flight from Hong Kong to Sao Paulo in partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo.

The first Cainiao charter Boeing 777 freighter took off from Hong Kong on March 5 and arrived at San Paolo's Guarulhos Airport after 30 hours of flight. The cargo on board included online retail products such as accessories, electronic products and sports equipment.

The freighter with 100 tonnes of cargo capacity operates once a week.

The launch of the charter flight this time increased the number of Cainiao's charter flight to Latin America to eight per week, further helping the Chinese logistics company meet the growing demands of Latin American consumers for goods made in China.

With Cainiao's construction of logistics facilities in Latin America, the time needed for transporting packages from Chinese cross-border trade enterprises to overseas consumers has been slashed from 40 to 50 days to 12 days at the fastest.
