China-backed livelihood projects in Africa completed

The Siemens ±500 kV high-voltage converter station project and the Naivasha Industrial Park water supply project, the first power project and the first water supply project undertaken by Chinese enterprise in the Kenya, have been completed recently, reported Beijing Daily on Thursday.

The Siemens ±500 kV high-voltage converter station project is a part of Kenya-Ethiopia Electricity Highway, with a total length of about 1,000 kilometers and a transmission capacity of 2,000 MW. After being put into operation, it will realize two-way power transmission between Ethiopia and Kenya.

The Naivasha Industrial Park water supply project is located in Nakuru County, Kenya. The main project content includes a new water pipeline and related supporting facilities construction. As an extension of water supply network in southeastern Africa, the project will provide industrial and domestic water for the Naivasha Industrial Park and surrounding communities, which will greatly improve local people's livelihood.

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), as executor of above mentioned projects, actively fulfills its social responsibilities. Through implementation of localized talent management, it has cultivated a group of management talents involving safety, electricity, civil engineering and etc.
