SAIC Hongyan steps up efforts to expand overseas presence

SAIC Hongyan Automotive Co., Ltd., a heavy-duty truck manufacturer based in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, has been actively exploring overseas markets to further expand its presence along the Belt and Road route.

The company would further explore opportunities brought by the Belt and Road constructions and better cater to needs of overseas customers and do more to boost Chongqing's vehicle exports based upon what it has achieved in the past two years, according to a source with SAIC Hongyan.

It is noted that 150 tractors were delivered for use in cross-border logistics transportation of oil and gas, food and medicine in African countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo), and Egypt in December of 2020.

In last year, the company delivered 100 heavy trucks to DR Congo on January 26 while inked sales deal of another 200 heavy trucks during the delivery ceremony. Also, a batch of dump trucks were shipped to Ghana in West Africa on May 22.

Also in 2021, the company also saw the first CKD truck assembled successfully on June 16 by the production line located in Tanzania, which was supported by Hongyan CKD team. And a total of 500 C6 LNG tractors were delivered to Russia last June.
