Chinese battery cell manufacturer Gotion High-tech Co., Ltd. (002074.SZ) announced late Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jujuy Energia y Mineria Sociedad del Estado (JEMSE) on potential cooperation on lithium mining and downstream business development in Argentina.

Under the MOU, Gotion High-tech and JEMSE, a mining and energy investment company owned by government of Argentina's Jujuy province, are mulling to jointly build a battery-grade lithium carbonate refinery in Jujuy province. The latter will provide exploration and mining rights for an exploration area of about 17,000 hectares to ensure resource supply.

The two sides also plan to carry out downstream business cooperation such as cathode materials and battery manufacturing, the company noted.
