Guangxi launches first white sugar special China-Europe freight train

A China-Europe freight train carrying 2,600 tonnes of white sugar departed from Nanning international railway port in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Sunday, which is the first special China-Europe freight train for food export of Guangxi, reported Chinanews.com.

The train will travel a 4,662-kilometer trip and arrive in Almaty of Kazakhstan through Alashankou port after 11 days, which is 8 to 10 days shorter in comparison with sea and road transportation.

Sea and road transportation used to be the main methods of Guangxi sugar export.  Distinguished by time-efficiency and lower risks, the freight train route will greatly improves the delivery capacity as well as market competitiveness of enterprises, said a relevant person in charge of local logistics company.

The successful operation of this freight train marked a brand new transportation commodity category of Nanning-Nur-Sultan-Almaty China-Europe freight train route formulated by China Railway Nanning Group, and will promote more high-quality goods produced in Guangxi to enter the countries along the Belt and Road routes, and provide transportation guarantee for the high-quality development of Guangxi's opening-up to the outside world.
