TikTok to create 1,000 jobs in Ireland
DUBLIN, June 10 (Xinhua) -- TikTok will create another 1,000 new jobs in Ireland, bringing its workforce in the country to over 3,000, said Irish authorities on Friday.
The new jobs were announced during a meeting between Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin and TikTok chief executive officer (CEO) Shou Zi Chew, according to IDA Ireland, a state agency responsible for attracting foreign direct investment.
"TikTok's latest expansion further embeds Ireland as an important hub for its European and global operations, and is clear evidence of its commitment to this country," said Martin.
TikTok has based a number of its critical functions in Ireland, according to IDA Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan.
TikTok is a popular video-sharing social media platform owned by ByteDance, a Chinese internet technology company headquartered in Beijing.
