China's northernmost province sees robust foreign trade

HARBIN, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Heilongjiang, China's northernmost province, saw its foreign trade in goods grow 34.9 percent year on year to 100.58 billion yuan (about 15.03 billion U.S. dollars) in the first five months of this year, customs data showed.

From January to May, Heilongjiang's imports rose 39.5 percent year on year to 82.02 billion yuan, while its exports grew 17.5 percent year on year to 18.56 billion yuan, according to the customs of Harbin, the provincial capital.

Its trade with countries along the Belt and Road hit 78.44 billion yuan, accounting for 78 percent of the province's total. Trade with members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership rose 33.5 percent.

Heilongjiang saw robust growth in the exports of labor-intensive products and agricultural products, while imports of agricultural products and iron ore surged in the same period.
