HOHHOT, June 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 20,500 tonnes of fruits and vegetables were exported from China to Mongolia via the border port of Erenhot in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region during the first five months of 2022, according to the Erenhot Customs.

The total trade value of fruit and vegetable exports to Mongolia through the port from January to May exceeded 41.36 million yuan (about 6.18 million U.S. dollars).

"In May, the demand for fruits and vegetables from Mongolia has been increasing. The customs implemented an appointment clearance system and adjusted the operation time to avoid working in hot weather, which can help keep the freshness of fruits and vegetables," said Zhang Yucheng, manager of a fruit and vegetable export company in Erenhot.

The Erenhot Customs has adopted a number of measures, including rapid customs clearance measures for fresh products, to facilitate smooth and orderly customs clearance at the port, according to Wang Jiugang, an official with the customs.

In 2018, a green channel for agricultural products was launched, which has since been putting various kinds of fruit and vegetables on the tables of Mongolian people.

Thanks to this green channel, the fresh fruits and vegetables are allowed to pass through customs at the fastest possible speed.

More than 80 percent of fresh fruits and vegetables in the Mongolian market are Chinese exports supplied via Erenhot.
