Shenzhen sees over 200 China-Europe freight train trips since launched

SHENZHEN, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Statistics from Shenzhen Customs showed since launch of the first Shenzhen Greater Bay Area (GBA) China-Europe freight train service in August of 2020, a total of 200 cargo trains have been operated, transporting 116,300 tonnes of goods with total value of 5.313 billion yuan, reported Chinanews.com Sunday.

The "Greater Bay Area" or "GBA" here refers to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, one of China's economic powerhouses.

According to the relevant person in charge of Shenzhen Customs, GBA China-Europe freight train connects 38 countries in Europe and Asia. 3,365 companies have chosen to take the GBA China-Europe freight trains to transport their goods, in which about 68.8 percent of the enterprises are from the Pearl River Delta region.

It is learned that in order to fully guarantee the stable operation of the trains, Shenzhen Customs has established a rapid coordination mechanism and launched a series of logistics facilitation reforms. Through sea-rail combined transportation, Shenzhen further optimized its international transportation channels, thus better helping local companies and enterprises of surrounding areas to go global.
