E.China's Xuzhou sees 230 China-Europe freight train trips in H1, up 91.7pct on yr

Xuzhou, a major city in east China's Jiangsu Province, has operated a total of 230 China-Europe freight trains in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 91.7 percent, with completed trade volume hitting 277 million U.S. dollars, up 53.9 percent y-o-y, according to statistics from local authority.

From January to June, among the export goods of Xuzhou China-Europe freight train, commodities from Jiangsu Province, valuing 110 million U.S. dollars, accounted for 57 percent of total goods sources, which provided a strong guarantee for the stability of the international industrial and supply chain of enterprises in the province.

Currently, through five ports of China including Erenhot, Manzhouli, Horgos, Alashankou and Suifenhe, Xuzhou has formed an international freight train channel system connecting 19 countries and more than 50 cities in Europe and Asia.

According to a person in charge of Xuzhou international port area, Xuzhou has explored return special train journeys carrying soybeans and oats from Eastern Europe. Through these trips, nearly 800 TEUs of soybeans, oats and other goods were imported from Eastern Europe in the first half of this year, totaling more than 10,000 tonnes.
